BONUS REVIEW by STEPHEN BANAS

This week’s issue of Batman marks the first half of Neil Gaiman’s storyline, “Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?” An eclectic group of nefarious and infamous characters attending a modest wake in the back room of Joe Cool’s bar, Catwoman and Alfred each give their respective recollection of how Batman perished, as a familiar Bat-narrator looks on. Gaiman’s storytelling ability alone would have been enough for me to enjoy and recommend this issue, but coupled with Andy Kubert’s dynamic pencil work, extra pages of actual content in an oversized issue and sketch pages to boot?

I give it 9 out of 10 Grahams
