VERY FINE/NEAR MINT

This issue features a pair of all-new stories that set the stage for the next evolution in mutant adventures, FALL OF X, and introduces an uncanny new lineup for a new team book launching next year. PLUS: a preview of Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti's upcoming mystery project.

Reviews

The cover is a bit misleading. This is not just a prelude to the AXE Judgment Day event. You are getting THREE preludes for free in this issue.
The cover story has some great art hindered by some hard to read blue on black lettering (seriously Marvel. Contrast in lettering helps). The story is told from the point of view of the Eternals explaining who they are and why they do what they do, how they view the Avengers and their views on the X-Men. Of course this makes the Eternals look kind of like manipulative jerks. If you’ve been reading the current X-Men, some of the plot threads leftover from Hickman’s run are coming to a head here.

The second story you may have to throw your memory back a few years. Remember that forgotten Blade series that was slated to come out a few years ago that was prematurely canceled featuring a female vampire hunter? Here it is and honestly, It’s not bad. The series will be interesting once it starts.

The third story loosely ties in with the first. The upcoming Hellfire Gala series gets its prelude here. If you haven’t read the X Lives/Deaths Of Wolverine or the Moira MacTaggart plot line, you may be a bit confused here. The connective tissue seems to be that some players in the first and third stories seem to have similar goals and may be interesting to see how (if) the creative teams decide to cross those over.
What you get is a lot of set up, a random story between that doesn’t appear to tie in to either of the bookending stories, decent to good art and it’s free.
