MINISERIES PREMIERETwo best-friend outcasts navigate the Sacramento suburbs of 1984, where they find a home in skateboard culture and punk rock. On one side of the coin, GROMMETS is an authentic look at '80s skater culture, a snapshot of the generation that turned skating into a worldwide phenomenon. On the other, it's a heartfelt coming-of-age story that follows two friends from troubled homes as they navigate their damage in an era when no one cared.

This excellent new title is about skating (skateboarding, not a crime, either reference) in the eighties. I was not a skater then (or now). I did not live in California then (or now). This isn't my world, that's what I'm saying.

I'm also saying that this book is great, and great fun. Been picked on? You'll love it. Tried to impress a girl? You'll love it. Have embarrassing parents? Guess what? You'll love it. Do you have an affinity for Jack Davis era Mad Magazine? Yeah, you'll probably love it too.

A heartfelt tribute to a very specific place and time, with enough zest to drag anyone along who wasn't there. Highly recommended. Nice job messrs Rick Rememnder, Brian Posehn, and Brett Parson.
