BONUS REVIEW by GARY OWENS

I’ve been out of the Hulk universe for awhile, and now he has a son, but not with the red Hulk Betty Ross Banner that’s jumping around. Quite interesting, but these two revelations are secondary to the memory of Bruce Banner’s father that threads this story, tying his anger and hero issues altogether. Pak does a good job at scripting, always bringing us back to the Bruce, the emotional person, which is far more interesting than the endless Rocky 4 slugging. As for art, Pelletier does a fine job of eliminating all body fat from every character he draws. It’s like a world filled with Mr. Universe contestants. Despite the array of muscles, the ending was powerful, and touching. I admit I never expected to put “touching” and “The Hulk” in the same paragraph. For those who skipped out on World War Hulks, like me, this looks to be a good issue to fill up on backstory (except where Betty Ross comes in). Who knew they actually show Bruce’s childhood? What a concept!

I give it 8 out of 10 Grahams
