I am starting to see a trend in DC Comics that is very encouraging and it continues in this one-shot. The son of the original Ray was one of the characters that was introduced in the DCU and had a lot of potential. Not only was he a legacy hero, sharing the hero name and powers of his father but was new enough to interact with a large portion of the DCU. He was a member of the JSA, the Freedom Fighters, and the Justice League. And he blended in with all of them. This retelling of the Ray's beginnings with a few easter eggs for those in the know. Steve Orlando's story is great but it is Stephen Byrne's use (or rather non use) of color that makes this issue shine (well, not shine literally in fact rather the opposite).
