Reviews

Things not on my radar: tortured loneliness in an Archie Comic. I got this and more here, and talk about a pleasant gift. After the lengthy Previous page, explaining how Dr. Light created robots, like MegaMan, to help mankind, which dovetailed to other stuff, I admit I cringed at the omen of a chatty previous page. Come on, this is a comic book, not a novel. Don't suffocate the artist, please. But after a page flip my worries went up in smoke. Ian Flynn wrote a comic reminiscent of classics like Pinocchio, or even Frankenstein, but with a fresh twist, as a creation searches for meaning in a confused world. He lets the art speak, telling much more, at times, than his sparse words surrender. Yes, there is a pull back of drama at the end, he does remember it is an Archie Superhero Comic, but not before showing that he can write. Thumbs way up.
