Sara is the best sniper in a group of seven women snipers who are on a mission to kill a whole bunch of Nazis. The thing is, that may not be the only enemy they are dealing with.
Garth Ennis is known for filling comics with hyper violence, graphic language, gruesome imagery and a whole lot of poking fun at superheroes. This ironically doesn’t feel like that, but it still absolutely feels like Garth Ennis. He created the definitive version of the Punisher and he gave us this little comic called The Boys (you might have heard of since it has a pretty successful show now).
Steve Epting has drawn a ton of amazing comics, but his run on Captain America is legendary. He is a master of subtle facial expressions that really give you emotion from the characters he draws.
Have you ever read a comic that paces itself slowly, but instead of feeling slow, it feels like every single beat is measured precisely to maximize the weight of the situation? Have you ever read a comic and thought how perfectly you could envision panels from it on the movie screen? Sara hits those notes in spades. I loved following the story of this Sara and her bad ass crew of women killing some Nazis.
I loved Sara and highly recommend it. If you don’t want to take my word for it though, maybe listen the Alan Moore who called it “One of the finest works of [Garth Ennis’] career.”
