Well, that made my inner Spidey-freak happy. This satisfying funny book brings to a close one of the best Marvel mini-series of recent memory. Bendis elegantly underlines why he is the master when it comes to writing Spider-Man irregardless of the universe! The dual-Spidey quip-sharing alone is cockle warming. Both Spider-Men, Miles and Peter, are an absolute ball to read, and it is evident the fun Bendis had crafting this twisty yarn. Mysterio's restless musing, after finally (sorta) taking Peter Parker down, leading to his downfall is a beautiful start to the final act. Involving the Ultimates, led by the contemplative and commanding Ultimate Nick Fury, in the last act was a masterstroke. The Ultimates always work so much better in Bendis's hands. Ultimate Iron Man geeks out over Mysterio's dimension-hopping tech, insisting he only wants to spend "a day" on Earth-616. Delightful. I would have loved a much longer story, and Miles's journey is feeling slightly rushed, but I appreciate Bendis's economical storytelling and masterful characterization. He does so much with so little and lands a moment like few writers at his level. I am ready for 10 more years of Ultimate Spider-Man with Bendis at the helm!
