GERARD WAY (W), GABRIEL BÁ (A), DAVE STEWART (C), and JAMES JEAN (Cover)

While The Umbrella Academy reconnects over the death of their father, a displaced sibling finds her next fix -- in music. The influence of music transforms the lost member of the team; the family that rejected her will realize just how profoundly they underestimated their powerless sister.

"Wow, this is really just ‘All-Star Doom Patrol’ with the names changed, isn’t it? I can’t believe that didn’t occur to me until now. Incidentally, there’s a hilarious bit in the letters column (I know, right? Why not just send a telegram?) from editor Scott Allie, who responds to a reader’s question as to whether another writer might ever contribute an Umbrella Academy story with the following: ‘I personally would not want to have another writer working on it – unless it was someone as well suited to it as Grant Morrison, and then only for a standalone story.’ I guess as long as you’re doing Grant the favor, huh Scott? Wow, are you for real? You don’t think for a second that Gerard Way wouldn’t trip over himself to let Grant Morrison do whatever U.A. series he wanted for as long as he wanted? I mean, as great as this series is, he’s just doing Morrison’s version of a superhero book! Here’s a question posed BY Allie TO Way in an interview: ‘Allie: You've struck up a friendship with one of your biggest influences, Grant Morrison—has he given you any advice on the writing?’ He’s one of Way’s ‘biggest influences’! So what’s with the dismissive ‘and then only for a standalone story’ nonsense? If you created something, and your BIGGEST INFLUENCE on that creation called up and wanted to work on it, wouldn’t that be a dream come true? That would be the best compliment Way could be paid, right? So, come on, a little more respect for Morrison, okay?"
