* Not all the witches burned during the Salem Witch Trials - and the ones that survived did so together. Now, generations later, their descendants protect the ancient secrets entrusted to them. They call themselves the Ravens. * Wilma is the new girl in school, and she plans to go completely unnoticed - except that she bears an eerie resemblance to the Raven member Waverly. And Waverly just went missing. * But the truth behind Waverly's disappearance will put the entire coven in danger - and Wilma will have to rely on power she never knew she had if she wants to save her new friends. * Writer Dan Panosian (Slots) and artist Marianna Ignazzi present a supernatural mystery, perfect for fans of The Marked and Sabrina the Teenage Witch (2019).

Reviews

Short review. Witchcraft is real. High school cliques are going to fight over the new girl in school.
Long review. I wanted to read this book for 2 reasons. Reason #1, I quite enjoyed the 2016 movie "The Unkindness of Ravens." I knew immediately that this book had nothing to do with that movie as there were no homeless war veterans nor any ravens nor ravenlike monsters on the cover or preview pages. But I was intrigued by word association to at least pay more attention to it. Reason 2# was Dan Panosian's name was attached. I have been fascinated by Dan's artwork the last couple of years as he is truly a unique and talented artist now. I still can't quite believe he's the same Rob Liefeld clone from the early Image days... but I digress. So I was familiar with the title and Dan was going to draw it. Great! Except Dan is the writer??? Mairanna Ignazzi is listed as the artist. So not related to the movie I know and written not drawn by the artist I like? Hmmm. Yet the cover looked like an updated version of the movie, "The Craft". Well, I love "The Craft". Reviews of other books Dan has written are fairly good. So I read it anyway. It's pretty good. Basically it is TV Buffy meets Modern Sabrina meets the Craft meets Mean Girls with very clean artwork that brings memories of Jim Aparo and Don Heck to mind. Even though it looks nothing like Jim or Don's superhero work that I am familiar with, but on page 12 there is a face that just screams 60s/ 70s male face to me. Sprinkle in some terrific coloring by Fabiana Mascolo and I am hooked for a few more issues. Not what I wanted but I liked it anyway.
